Lockyer Valley Colonics was founded by Terry and Val Merrick. Terry had a brain tumour back in 1999 and after recovering from the operation in which the tumour was removed, Terry decided to study health.
Colon health stood out as a basic need for maintaining good health and overcoming disease. As life and death starts with the colon and because there was a great shortage of colon therapists in Australia, Terry and Val saw the need to help out in this area. Terry had been given a second chance of life and believed God was now calling on him to help other people in his retirement years. Terry contacted the Australian Institute of Health and began his studies while both he and Val travelled around Australia in their motor-home. Terry completed his studies in 2005 becoming a colon therapist and specialised in colonic irrigation.
In 2005 Terry and Val bought their present home located just out of Laidley where Terry set up his practice, which commenced in February 2009. Over the years Terry was always very happy to be able to relieve problems for many people when they came here. He saw some incredible results from many clients and was thankful that God gave him the opportunity to help people in this way.
In October 2019, Terry’s health was failing due to a massive bleed in his shoulder and unfortunately he was unable to keep conducting the colonics on his own. Terry’s daughter Peta Ann offered to help him and at the same time learn the trade to eventually take over the business. So in January 2020 Peta Ann started learning the practical side of the business under the watchful eye of Terry and at the same time was studying and learning the theory associated with colonic irrigation therapy.
In May 2020, Terry went home to be with the Lord after suffering a stroke. Peta Ann who is now a qualified colon therapist operates the business with Val to carry on Terry’s legacy.
